About Lethen Archers
Lethen Archers is a well-established archery club located in Portlethen Aberdeenshire, offering a friendly and welcoming environment for archers of all levels. The club, which was founded in 1997, attracts a diverse range of members, from social archers to those who compete at a national and international level. Beginner Course Information
Why do you run beginner courses?
We are a volunteer-run club, not a business. All of our committee members, coaches, and helpers give their time freely and are not paid.
Our beginner courses are designed to introduce new people to archery and help grow the sport. However, we have limited space, equipment, and volunteer availability, which means we can only run a certain number of courses and accept a limited number of new members.
Courses are organised and delivered in our volunteers’ spare time, so they can only take place when enough coaches and helpers are available.
What does the beginner course include?
All necessary equipment is provided and can also be used after the course.
The course runs over four consecutive Saturdays and costs £80. During this time, you’ll learn:
-
Safe and proper shooting techniques
-
Bow setup and takedown
-
Aiming and shooting form
-
Shooting etiquette
-
Scoring and range procedures
By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and confidence to shoot independently, with ongoing support available from our members and coaches.
How do I book a place on a course?
We offer several beginner courses throughout the year. Details on how to register are shared via email before each course opens.
Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. This system ensures everyone has a fair opportunity to secure a place when courses become available.
Will I need to wait for a place?
Yes — due to high demand and limited availability, you should be prepared to wait an extended period of time for a course place.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes, we only accept participants aged 13 and above.
