Sunday 25th January saw us hosting our first AGB UK record status competition for some years with a WA combined 25m & 18m. The event, while not full, was still quite well attended, considering there were a couple of other shoots in Scotland on the same day, with competitors travelling from all over Scotland to take part.
The round consists of a WA25m in the morning, 60 arrows with a 60cm target face at 25m, followed by a WA18m in the afternoon, 60 arrows with a 40cm target face at 18m.
There were some challenges to overcome over the course of the day:
First, the access cards for the lift wouldn't work which meant we had one competitor stuck downstairs in their wheelchair. Luckily the janitor came to the rescue and they did just make it upstairs in time for equipment inspection.
Second, one competitor had one of their limbs de-laminate as they were setting up. Fortunately they were able to utilize a pair of limbs from our beginners kit and were still able to take part.
Finally, there were a couple of hiccups with the timing system but the judges were well prepared and had whistles at the ready (Murphy's Law in full effect, never had any issues with the timing system at internal club competitions but come an open record status event...).

Highlight of the day had to be Debbie's trick shot pinning Ruth's fletching to the target.
There were some lessons learnt for next time (and I feel confident there will be a next time) but overall it was a really good shoot and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
We would like to thank everyone for making it such a great competition, the competitors who travelled from far and wide, the judges, those involved in organising the event, those who helped out on the day and all who donated raffle prizes. Without your time, effort and commitment these events wouldn't happen, so thank you very much.
Results will be available on the Scottish Archery website in due course.
Thank you to Ryan Hill, Edwin Jones and Lorrie Van Der Heijdt for the photos
