Well what a weekend that was! Argyll Field Archers had their first classification shoot using their new course. And what a course it is with loads of challenging shots, uphill & downhill and some absolutely stunning views. This really is a course that will make you fall in love with field archery (with the possible exception of target 28 which is a 30 yard shot at a ridiculously steep downhill angle).
Saturday was a Hunter round and a little bit on the damp side as we were in the midst of a yellow weather warning for rain ⚠️🌧️🌧️. The rain didn't dampen our spirits too much though and everyone still seemed to enjoy themselves. A combination of the weather and some silly mistakes took my score down to 413/560 and I was quite eager to get back to my accommodation and get dry at the end of the day.
Day two was the Field round and while the weather was much improved, my shooting wasn't, mostly due to a couple of technical issues (first a moving arrow rest, then a moving nocking point), which meant I finished the day with a disappointing 404/560. However, the sunny weather shed some light on some spectacular views which made the shooting seem a little less important.
Overall a great weekend, despite the weather on Saturday, on an amazing and somewhat challenging course. Really looking forward to shooting there again sometime.
