After losing May to illness, June to recovering and July to an empty calendar, my very short outdoor season started yesterday with a trip down to Ryton (near Newcastle) for the DNAA County Longbow Championships. It's a long drive but worth it to shoot on a field of composed entire of longbows.
It was absolutely perfect shooting conditions. Not a breath of wind and comfortably warm. The good conditions helped produced a very good score and I smashed my personal best, shooting a 609 (PB was 527). First and only visitor, but second overall. Happy with the day.
Might also be a Scottish record, but I'll need to wait to find out. Thought I had Scottish record last years only to find someone had shot a higher score at a different event on the same weekend. Fingers crossed for this time! Scottish tour next weekend and my season is over.
