While most of our competitive archers got drenched in Banchory at the Northern Area Double FITA Star, Edwin decided to head North to get drenched at the Inverness Field Archery Club's Highland Open. Despite the weather, it was a fairly well attended shoot as people prepared for UKIFAC (UK & Ireland Field Archery Championship) which will be held there in July.
The Highland Open consists of a Field round on Saturday with an additional single arrow, unmarked 3D animal at every other target, and a Hunter round on Sunday. As Inverness Field Archers are getting the course ready for UKIFAC, we got to shoot the 3rd course of 14 targets to assist them in finding any potential issues so they could be resolved before the main event in July.

"🎯🏹 Great weekend at the Inverness Field Archery Club Highland Open. A little bit soggy on Saturday for the Field and 3D animal round with light rain all morning and a brief heavy downpour and some more light rain in the afternoon. Unfortunately the wet conditions and no wind made it perfect for the notorious highland midges and we got eaten alive. Much better conditions on Sunday for the Hunter round with some sunshine and enough of a breeze to keep the midges away. Overall score of 913 enough to get the gold medal and trophy for the AMFS-R category 🥇🏆
Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to everyone involved in organising and running the competition and getting the course ready 👍"
