Well it was quite the weekend for Team Lethen at the SAA Nothern Area Double FITA Star and SAA Northern Area Championships at Banchory.
Through continuous heavy rain on Saturday our archers battled on and did us proud with Hamish winning the Gents Compound, Robyn winning the Ladies Compound, Kris taking gold in the Gents Metric I, Craig winning silver in the Gents Metric III, Keira taking gold in the U18 Ladies Recurve and Debbie taking gold in the 50+ Ladies Recurve. Unfortunately, Carin had to retire at lunch time due to injury.
On Sunday the weather was much kinder to those who ventured back to complete the double 1440. Robyn and Hamish each won silver in their respective compound categories while Craig and Debbie each took gold in their recurve categories.
In addition, Robyn and Hamish won gold in the Compound Team event and Craig and Debbie won gold in the Recurve Team

(Saturday) “Target for one today 😢 and the weather was awful 💦💦💦 Don’t think I’ve been quite so wet at a shoot before 🤣 Thankfully I’d packed some extra clothes but the airing cupboard is now full of rather soggy archery gear 💦 Determination or stupidity to complete the round 🤔 probably the latter 😆🏹"
(Sunday) “What a difference a day makes. The rain stayed away, the sun came out and I had target buddies 😊 50 points up on yesterday too plus the added bonus of taking the Recurve Team gold alongside fellow Lethen Archers Craig 😁🏹

“The Saturday FITA went swimmingly, and by that I mean that it rained constantly... Struggled a bit with the double supraspinous tendonitis, and with my Zniper rest not liking being waterlogged, but what finished me after only two distances was being super cold and pulling something in my side/back/ribs trying to fish out my lunch from the car after we were told only five minutes for lunch. Breathing turned stabbity and my smidge of common sense kicked in so I retired to a hot bath at home (which helped a bit, but not enough to redo the FITA [on Sunday]). Content with that decision. Kudos to Debbie for persisting, and to Kirsty for a successful tournament, despite the weather!”
